The Difference of Pediatrics
Pediatric specialists are experts in working only with children. A child's body is much smaller and is very different than an adult's. Treating children is not like treating a little adult.
Children may not be able to speak for themselves about their health care. Pediatric specialists consider the child's guardian, issues of privacy and consent and legal responsibility every time a health care decision is made. The process is more complex, but pediatric specialists make a child's family feel informed and included in decision-making.
