The team at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Pediatric Urology is specially trained to treat the unique needs of children and their parents. We understand that children may feel sensitive or embarrassed when talking about genital and bathroom problems. We use special equipment designed for children, and communicate with children in a way which makes them feel comfortable and relaxed.

Your Appointment with the Pediatric Urologist

At your first appointment, the doctor will discuss your child's history with incontinence, infections and bowel movements. They will usually take a urine sample to determine if your child is experiencing normal childhood wetting or a more serious issue.

You may have to complete a voiding diary to record how much your child drinks and how often they urinate. Your doctor will give you specific instructions on how to complete this diary. It will give your doctor a more specific idea about what is happening with your child.
