Our Story
Claiborne County Pediatrics knows that kids aren’t just little adults. That’s why Dr. Justin Widner received specialized training to become a board-certified pediatrician. Whether it’s a newborn visit or a yearly sports physical, we care for your child through every stage of life.
Commitment to this community is our privilege and passion.
Meet Our Providers
Our team is committed to helping your kids stay healthy and reach their full potential. We invite you to get to know our providers and why they enjoy practicing medicine.

I was born and raised here in Claiborne County. I am a graduate of Claiborne High and attended Lincoln Memorial University for both my undergraduate and medical school degree. From an early age, my parents instilled in me the value of hard work. Most of my childhood was spent on the farm in a tobacco patch. My parents always pushed me to do my best and believed I could accomplish anything I set my mind to.
I always knew I wanted a career in which I could help people. During high school, when illness struck my own family, I realized a career in the medical field would give me the opportunity to help others, some at the most vulnerable times in their lives. Being a first generation college student, I thought the idea of becoming a physician was too far fetched, but thanks to the support of my family, church, and community, a small town country boy was able to achieve his dreams. I knew I wanted to come back to serve this community that was able to shape me into the person I have become. I want to be a role model to the future generations that no dream is too big, with hard work and determination.
Pediatrics allows for the unique opportunity to watch my patients and families grow. I deeply value the trust parents bestow upon me to allow me to care for their most precious possession, their child. Pediatrics allows us to focus on preventive medicine which keeps our children safe while they are growing and developing. I am excited to be able to bring pediatric services to the community that has had such a great influence on me. With the help of East Tennessee Children's Hospital, I will help close the distance to pediatric services that is much needed in this area. I look forward to the opportunity to take care and serve the children of Claiborne County and the surrounding area.

My family and I moved to East Tennessee from Ohio to help with my grandparent’s farm; I never expected to love farming and East Tennessee so much. We have grown to love this community, and its people have become our people. I am so excited to be working close to home and making an impact in my community.
My personal life and career are all about kids, family, and church. I am a wife and mother of 4 handsome boys; I truly feel like being a mother helps me connect with parents. I worked as a pediatric RN for several years and then transitioned to Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I love being able to combine my years of bedside nursing experience, my person experience as a wife, mother and Christian, and my medical education to provide the best possible care for my patients and their families.
When working with kids I find it particularly important to incorporate the whole family as much as possible because it really does take a village to raise kids. I strongly believe in parent and patient education; I want you to understand the why behind what I do and say. I do not take my position lightly and understand the amount of trust parents give to anyone involved in their kids lives, especially their medical care. I always strive to treat every child exactly how I would treat my own children. I look forward to meeting you all!
