Our pediatric surgeons provide surgical services specifically designed for children. A pediatric surgeon has different skills and certifications than a general adult care surgeon and is highly trained in pediatric-specific procedures.
We treat a wide variety of conditions, from abdominal and thoracic disorders to head and neck, skin, urinary tract and other issues.
The Pediatric Surgery physicians and staff at East Tennessee Children's Hospital are highly trained and well-prepared to attend to any surgical needs that may affect the health of your child.
Preparing for Surgery
If the time comes for your child to need our surgical services, we are ready to help your whole family prepare for the day. Our perioperative surgery services refer to the time before, during and after surgery and we want to to make sure your child is prepared for the experience.
Upcoming Surgery & COVID-19 Precautions
The safety of our patients, families and staff is our highest concern. Certain procedures require COVID-19 testing prior to surgery. If your child requires testing, it must be completed several days prior to their scheduled surgery. Your child’s surgery may be postponed or cancelled if testing is not complete.
COVID-19 testing now takes place at our new Testing Center, 611 22nd St. Knoxville, TN 37916, on the corner of 22nd Street and White Ave. Plenty of parking is available. Visit the Testing Center page for more information.
After your child’s test, please limit yours and your child’s exposure to public places until surgery. Remember to social distance when staying home is not an option.
- Leave your home only for essential trips.
- Wear a mask when outside of your home.
- Refrain from gathering in groups.
- Stay at least six-feet away from others.
- Avoid being around other children, friends and family who do not live in your home.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces in your home regularly.
- Wash hands often with soap and water.
You will be notified by your child’s physician or provider if the COVID-19 test is positive. Please do not hesitate to call us with any questions at 865-541-8402.
A child’s legal guardian does not have to bring the patient for testing. We request the legal guardian be reachable by phone if needed.
