Behavioral Health Consultants

East Tennessee Children’s Hospital believes in caring for the whole child - from their physical, mental and emotional health. We understand that different seasons of life may bring about new stressors or behavioral responses. Our consultants are here to support your child to help them navigate these changes and challenges.

What is a behavioral health consultant?

A behavioral health consultant supports your child’s primary care physician by providing care for psychiatric concerns or symptoms.

What do we treat?

  • Behavioral challenges (tantrums, aggression, noncompliance)
  • ADHD assessment and support
  • Concerns related to depression and/or anxiety
  • Eating and activity changes for a healthy lifestyle
  • Toileting challenges
  • Achieving a healthy sleep schedule and environment
  • Coping with a new medical diagnosis
  • Chronic disease management (diabetes, etc.)
  • Following through with the medical advice/family compliance
  • School avoidance or refusal
  • Habit reversal (e.g. thumb sucking, fingernail biting, hair pulling)
  • Parenting support

Additional Help
