Living With Leukemia
In March 2010, Taylor Benson had very swollen lymph nodes in his neck. His pediatrician thought it was an infection and referred him to Children's Hospital. A few days before his biopsy at Children's Hospital, his fever spiked. After some testing, Ray Pais, M.D., did a bone marrow biopsy. Taylor was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2010 when he was 3 years old. He immediately started chemo and is now in remission.
Taylor enjoys the crafts and playing with iPads. "We have to come to the Emergency Department every time he has a fever; we've been here on Christmas," Taylor's mom said. "The nurses remember us. They know his sensitivities and know him."
