Kris is a dedicated supply chain specialist at our hospital, responsible for restocking essential supplies like diapers, pulse oximeters and gloves. Join Kris as he guides us through a typical day in the NICU, where he keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes. Recently, Kris received the BEE Award—a unique honor at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital that recognizes non-clinical staff who go above and beyond to support patients, families, and colleagues.

Anna Taylor, our Child Life specialist, coordinates parties for patients finishing chemotherapy. We are honored to partner with Dollywood to gift boxes to our oncology families, including tickets to the amusement park, coupons for inside the park, and even a train whistle! Thank you, Dollywood, for making these special moments possible.

Get ETCHucated! Sleep Medicine Center with Ashley and Mollie (July 2025)

Ashley and Mollie are RPSGTs - AKA sleep techs - with a special pediatric digital badge that is held by only roughly 300 professionals in the pediatric sleep study field. Many children return to our clinic year after year for sleep studies to ensure their routine and equipment are working properly. Watch to learn more about pediatric sleep studies!

Get ETCHucated! Automated Dispensing Cabinets with Brad Cagle (July 2025)

Our hospital is equipped with automated dispensing cabinets, also known as vending machines, on every floor. These cabinets allow our nursing staff to quickly and securely provide daily medications to patients. From acetaminophen to IV nutrition, our pharmacy operates efficiently, ensuring service throughout the hospital, in clinics and at home.

After Jim retired from a local police department, he found a new passion as a security officer at our hospital! He is a ray of sunshine for patients, families and staff, always ready to share a kind smile and wayfinding around campus. If you see him around, be sure to ask for one of his stickers!

Tiffany is a lead lactation consultant in our milk lab, a dedicated space to collect, store and prepare feedings for premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Orders for milk amounts and feeding schedules for each baby are determined by their physician, nutritionist and our team.

Get ETCHucated - Community Benefit with Becky Miller (May 2025)

Community Benefit is a department at our hospital that participates in and hosts various community events aimed at sharing safety education and instilling confidence in families with children. We cover various topics, including CPR and AED training, pool safety, bike safety, safe sleep practices, child passenger safety, nutrition, and more. We aim to give back to our community through open conversation and freebie items to support safety.

The White family recently celebrated DJ's adoption with Alex and Heidi's assistance! Alex, our family legal services attorney, helps patients and their families with adoptions and conservatorships, ensuring a safe and stable life. Most clients come from referrals at our primary care offices or the Grow With Me clinic for children with neonatal abstinence syndrome.

Judy and her knitting and crocheting group from Central Baptist Bearden create handmade graduation caps for newborns that are ready to go home from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Each stitch is made with love and prayer for the babies and their families as they embark on their journey home. NICU graduations are a significant occasion - we celebrate the hard work and growth these families have experienced during their stay!

Outpatient lab is often a family's first experience with our hospital and it is Chelsea's goal to make them as comfortable as possible - and to HAVE FUN! Did you know that child life specialists can tell how a child feels about their upcoming labs with just one play session? Whether it is a high-five, words of encouragement, or a bravery certificate, she ensures a child is praised for doing something hard. Chelsea's favorite quote is, "Sometimes being brave means crying!"

Reggie the HABIT dog is a real celebrity! Reggie and all our other emotional support dogs bring so much joy to our patients and their families. Even our staff LOVE our furry friends 🐶🐾🦴

HABIT is a community group of volunteers working together to explore the circumstances and consequences of the human-animal bond and to promote this valuable bond between people and animals. HABIT is comprised of representatives from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, volunteers from the community, and private veterinary practitioners.

Did you know that children two years old and younger are highly susceptible to the flu, especially under six-months-old? Dr. Stephanie Gorman from Seymour Pediatrics recommends getting annual flu shots, due to the change in prominent strands from year to year. Flu shots can reduce the severity and length of illness for those who are vaccinated and get sick. Check with your child’s pediatrician about how you can get the flu shot to protect you and your family!
