Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)
Comprehensive Health Analysis in East Tennessee
Community assessment is the foundation for improving and promoting the health of community members. The role of a community assessment is to identify factors that affect the health of a population and determine the availability of resources within the community to adequately address these factors. East Tennessee Children's Hospital routinely assesses the community needs to evaluate the overall health status of the children it serves. The information from these assessments is used to guide the strategic planning process of the organization.
Periodically, not-for-profit hospitals are required to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and develop an implementation plan to best serve the community's health needs. These reports represent a commitment of time, resources, and expertise for the purpose of understanding a simple question: what do the residents of East Tennessee see as the most pressing health and wellness needs for children and families in their communities?
East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is committed to remaining a reliable and valuable community partner in the effort to improve health and wellness for children of all backgrounds, ages, and needs. ETCH also understands that health needs are not limited to the treatment of illness and injury but also stem from the complex and challenging economic and social circumstances in which people live, such as many of the issues identified in this CHNA.
