Ivy

When Ivy was born with Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Sumeet Sharma put her parents' minds at ease and asked them to trust him. "I’ll let you know when you need to worry," he told them. And even when surgery was necessary, Ivy's mother remembers Dr. Sharma never had to tell them it was time to worry...

Dr Sharma has a horrible bedside manner. He Was very abrasive with my teenage daughter. Asked her why she was crying. He also said that she seemed sad she doesn't have a problem with her heart. He interrupted her several times after asking her a question. Asking a teenage girl why she's crying isn't really appropriate, especially when it's clear she's trying her best not to cry. My daughter is very frustrated with not getting answers as to why her heart rate is going up to 209 with exertion and passing out. She's having daily issues with her symptoms and I feel like if doctors understood that, they would be more helpful with diagnosing her. The problem with Dr Sharma isn't that he wasn't truthful, it's the way he interacted with the patient.

He came in quickly. He asked a lot of detailed questions. My daughter gets very nervous and clams up at the doctor,he wouldn't let me answer for her but he did do a good job of asking specific questions to make it easier for her to answer and reassuring her there were no wrong answers. My main complaint would be he talked extremely fast about her diagnosis. I work in healthcare so I understood most of it but I can see how it would be extremely hard for a layperson to understand.

Did not address our concerns. Mostly explained different ways to explain POTS but never said that was the diagnosis. No bedside manner. Made my child cry from the beginning by being too forceful about changing diet. Talked way too fast to really understand anything. We had a lot of fear going into the appointment and there was no compassion.

Highly recommend!! We also heard so many very great things about Dr. Sharma, so surprisingly I wasn't anxious about this appointment in that aspect. Worried about my son, yes! But meeting the staff and Drno. Which is a good thing.

The doctor's bedside manner was lacking. To be a pediatric doctor, he sure didn't understand that some pre-teen girls freeze when asked questions they don't fully understand. He was very dismissive when he said her responses meant it wasn't significant or she would be able to remember more details. My daughter cried on the way to the car.

He gave me no insight and pretty much acted like my child passing out constantly was nothing.

Dr Sherma explained in detail what they were looking for, possible issues, and gave a few suggestions once results were in. VERY helpful!

Spoke very fast. Was not very friendly or patient with my daughter. I felt more like we were taking commands from a drill sergeant than discussing my child's well being.

The doctor did a phenomenal job at explaining different things to where I could understand and had great bedside manner.
