East Tennessee Children's Hospital's expansion project features program and support space in a new five-story building with parking accommodations spread across two levels. The 245,000 square-foot space will expand services for children with chronic conditions such as cystic fibrosis and other special needs. Forty-four private Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) rooms will enable us to give the best possible care to our tiniest patients. We'll also add new operating rooms and desperately needed new parking spaces. Enhanced family areas, such as a rooftop garden, will give our patient families a place to relax and relieve their anxiety.
The groundbreaking began in the summer of 2014, and the building will take approximately two years to complete. Additional renovations will take another year with an expected completion date of Fall 2017. During construction, all services will continue to be offered at Children's Hospital. On April 19, 2016, Scripps Networks Interactive announced a partnership with East Tennessee Children's Hospital and donated $10 million to the new expansion. In honor of this generous donation, the building was named Scripps Networks Tower.
"The project is about acknowledging the importance of families in the care we provide, improving the efficiency of care and ensuring that we have the opportunity to accommodate future growth."
