Anniston's Story
Anniston spent the first three months of her life, including several first holidays, in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). After being diagnosed with Pierre-Robin syndrome, she endured many extensive surgeries to get her on the road to recovery.
Babies born with Pierre Robin have a jaw that's smaller than normal, which can push the tongue farther back in the mouth and block the baby’s airway, causing breathing trouble.
Anniston is now over a year old and enjoys books and dancing to music. She also loves playing trucks with her big brother. She is able to do all these things, thanks to the specialized care from exceptional doctors and nursing staff at Children’s Hospital.
Her mom said, “There were so many big decisions to make for our daughter and many very scary surgeries, but we had so many amazing doctors and nurses who prayed with us and walked us through every step of her recovery.”
We invite you to share your positive experiences with Children’s Hospital. Visit www.etch.com/story to submit your story, and you may be featured on our social media channels.
