Children’s Hospital Celebrates Child Life Month

East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is celebrating Child Life Month by hosting fun events for patients all throughout March.

Certified child life specialists help pediatric patients develop ways to understand and cope with the anxiety, fear and separation that often accompany a hospital experience. In 1978, the Child Life program at Children’s Hospital was the first program of its kind in Tennessee and predates the Association of Child Life Professionals, which is the governing body of the field.

To celebrate, Children’s Hospital child life specialists are hosting a stuffed animal clinic to promote meaningful and fun medical play for patients. This event will take place Tuesday, March 11th at 2 PM.
