Oak Ridge National Laboratory Holds Internal Campaign to Raise $20,000 for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) presented a check for $20,000 to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital on Tuesday January 23rd in a private presentation. ORNL used unique internal fundraising initiatives with bake sales and voluntary payroll deductions, with most donations coming in $20 increments to amount to the grand total in under two months.
All funding from this donation will be used to purchase an advanced robotic premature infant simulator to be used in Children’s Hospital simulation lab for education and training for incoming physicians, nursing students, and health care professionals.
Children’s Hospital’s Discovery Innovation & Simulation Center (DISC) is a technology-focused space dedicated to the latest innovations in pursuit of improved healthcare outcomes for patients. DISC includes uniquely designed spaces for virtual reality, collaboration, research and development, training, simulation and 3D printing. A family skills room provides space for hospital experts to meet with individual families in a comfortable learning space. Learn more about the simulation lab.
