Madison's Story as an Oncology Unit Tech - and a Daughter

In Her Own Words

Hi! I’m Madison Brown. I started at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in 2021 as a Unit Tech, right after my first semester of nursing school. I work there today as a Registered Nurse, after going through the Nurse Residency program. I knew I wanted to work at ETCH because when I was growing up, I was always inspired by watching my mom come home from work at night and getting to hear that she gets to help sick children.

Also, like my mom, I got a job on 2 East, the oncology unit. Working with the oncology population has been fulfilling in many ways, but difficult on other days. Those kids are the bravest people anyone could come across, so getting to take care of them is such a heartening experience.

When I’m not working, I like to read, watch Netflix, and spend quality time with friends and family.
