Kristin's Story as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse - and a Mom
In Her Own Words
Hi! I’m Kristin Brown, and I started at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital as a new grad Registered Nurse in 1999. I just celebrated my 25th anniversary at ETCH. I knew I always wanted to work in pediatrics, and I just happen to get a job on 2nd floor, on the medical oncology unit (which is now 2 East), where I developed a love for the oncology population.
I worked on that unit for 17 years before moving to the Hematology Oncology Outpatient Clinic. Working with these kids has shown me that they are some of the strongest people you’ll ever meet. Like I always say, kids don’t know how to “be sick.” It’s a hard, thankless job that is also the most rewarding.
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, reading a good book, shopping, and hanging out with my friends and family.
