Camp Eagle's Nest Cancelled for 2020
For the past 37 years Camp Eagle’s Nest has provided a safe camping experience for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital’s patients in our Hematology Oncology Clinic. We are sorry to report that this year due to the COVID-19 epidemic Camp Eagle’s Nest will not happen as scheduled. This has not been an easy decision for us. The Safety of our patients comes first. After consulting our physicians and infection control experts as well as considering the recommendations of the CDC and the health department the decision was made that an overnight camp is not safe at this time.
We are discussing the possibility of a fall retreat but currently there are too many unknowns to announce anything concrete. Eagle’s Nest has become not a once a year event for our campers. It is something that builds from year to year as our campers develop relationships which continue at camp and at home. We do not want to lose the momentum that has been established over the years.
For now, know that Camp Eagle’s Nest has become a tradition at Children’s Hospital that we hold dear. We believe that it makes a difference in the lives of our children and we look forward to continuing that tradition as soon as we can do so safely.
