Discovery Employees Volunteer at East Tennessee Children's Hospital and Across the Knoxville Area as Part of Annual Global Day of Service

-- Company’s ninth annual “Impact Day” is largest and most impactful to date --

-- Nearly 500 employees to volunteer in and around Knox; thousands more to volunteer around the world --

Discovery employees around the world came together to volunteer in their local communities on Friday, September 21 as part of the company’s ninth annual “Impact Day.” Nearly 500 employees from the company’s national operations headquarters in Knoxville partnered with local organizations such as East Tennessee Children's Hospital to make a difference across the region. Projects this year included revitalizing schools, parks and community facilities, serving meals to families in need, socializing with shelter pets, as well as hospital beautification and more.

In total, employees from offices in nearly 40 countries across 5 continents have spent the day volunteering in their local communities as part of Discovery’s largest and most impactful global day of service to date – and its first as a combined company since the acquisition of Scripps Networks in March. Impact Day began in 2010 as a celebration of the company’s 25th anniversary, and has since become one of Discovery’s hallmark corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Tennessee has such a strong tradition of volunteerism, and we’re honored to be able to give back to deserving organizations in the Knoxville community where so many of our employees live and work,” said David Leavy, Chief Corporate Operations and Communications Officer for Discovery, who will visit various Knoxville project sites throughout the day. “It’s one of the most important days on our company’s calendar as we work to make our communities better, stronger and more vibrant.”
