Dr. Whitney Dee was born and raised in Maryville, Tennessee. She graduated
from Maryville College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology
From a young age, she wanted to work in health care, and she attended East
Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson
City, Tennessee. She graduated with her medical degree in 2004. She moved
to Greenville, South Carolina and completed her general pediatrics residency
at the Greenville Hospital System. Dr. Dee became board certified in 2007.
After residency, Dr. Dee returned to her hometown of Maryville and joined
the practice of her childhood pediatrician, Dr. Charles A. Raper. She
enjoys combining her love of children with her desire to work with parents
to raise healthy families. Her professional interests include working
with breastfeeding families, foster care and adoption, and childhood development.
She also enjoys sports medicine, which comes from her time as a collegiate
volleyball player and from following her father, Joe Black, during his
duties as a Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer.
She met and married her husband, Dr. Jonathan D. Dee while in medical school.
They live in Maryville and have four children. In her spare time, she
enjoys hiking, road cycling, traveling, and reading.
