Dr. Michael W. Bean was born in Knoxville. He graduated from Central High
School and from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors of Science
degree. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee
medical Center in Memphis and his pediatric residency training at the
UTMRCH in Knoxville and became board certified in pediatrics in 1981.
After completing residency training, Dr. Bean began a pediatric practice
in Greeneville, TN in 1977 where he practiced general pediatric as well
a acute care and Level II Intensive Care Nursery Management. Dr. Bean
served on the Child Abuse Review Board for several years. He was also
a preceptor for both the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State
University’s Nurse Practitioner Training Programs. Dr. Bean remained
in Greeneville for twenty years before moving to Maryville in 1997 to
be closer to his and his wife’s families.
Dr. Bean is married to the former Kathryn Sipe of Oak Ridge. They have
two children and five grandchildren whom they enjoy spending time with.
Dr. Bean enjoys boating, Americana music, and Bluegrass festivals. He
enjoys most the time he spends with his wife Kathryn.
Dr. Bean has maintained his professional philosophy of providing conscientious
care while attempting to make his patients and parents fell at ease. “The
