FANTASY OF TREES
NOW AND THEN...
The History of the Fantasy of Trees
In 23 years, the Fantasy of Trees has raised more than $4.6 million to provide much-needed medical equipment for children served by East Tennessee Children's Hospital. Since the first Fantasy of Trees in 1985 that welcomed over 13,000 visitors, the Fantasy of Trees has hosted over 1 million people in the past 23 years, giving East Tennesseans the opportunity to begin their holiday season the week of Thanksgiving.
Throughout its history, the Fantasy of Trees has been designed, created and staffed by the dedication, expertise and talent of thousands of volunteers each year. Those volunteers dedicate themselves to Children's Hospital by giving over 155,000 hours annually to make the Fantasy of Trees the premier holiday event that it is today.
The Fantasy of Trees made its first-ever location change when it moved in November 2002 to the new Knoxville Convention Center, where the event continues each year.
A Tradition of Giving
With the help of generous sponsors, the loyalty of Knoxville's corporations and organizations, and many individuals, the Fantasy of Trees has raised more than $4.6 million to benefit the sick and injured children of East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Southeast Kentucky and Western North Carolina. Funds from the first four years were designated for various medical equipment needs throughout the hospital. In 1989, Fantasy of Trees organizers began to designate proceeds to fund specific areas of the hospital each year:

The Fantasy of Trees is in its third decade of supporting Children's Hospital. A few years ago, Fantasy organizers began a new tradition of giving -- this time to organizations OUTSIDE of Children's Hospital. In 2008, Fantasy of Trees volunteer leadership is supporting Blankets of Love for the Florence Crittenton Agency.
