Kids' Health

Two fathers whose children once were critically ill patients at East Tennessee Children's Hospital have penned books about their experiences.

  • Dail R. Cantrell wrote “Equal to the Task: One Family’s Journey Through Premature Birth.” Published in 2002, the book chronicles the early arrival of Cantrell’s son, Benjamin, and his months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and then his subsequent therapies at the East Tennessee Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Center.

  • Mike Moeller wrote “Above the Clouds: The Miraculous Healing of a Little Girl.” Published in 2004, this book chronicles Moeller’s daughter Morgan’s experiences with a diagnosis of diabetes, a life-threatening medical crisis and a lengthy hospitalization at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Cantrell and Moeller both write about the ups and downs of their respective children’s very serious medical conditions and about how they coped as both children were near death. Both families relied on friends, family and faith to get through the experience.

Both books are available at Knoxville-area bookstores and on www.amazon.com.

"Above the Clouds" also is available at www.abovethecloudsministries.net.
