Special Education Courses at Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Center
A free special education rights training course will be offered April 15, from 6-9 p.m. at East Tennessee Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Center, located at 1023 Children's Way, Knoxville, Tenn. The hands-on workshop is open to parents of children with special needs and professionals who work with kids needing special education assistance.
The training, offered by STEP, Inc. (Support and Training for Exceptional Parents), will help parents learn about their child's special education needs and rights provided under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). STEP, Inc. is a federally funded program which provides information, training and support to parents of children with special needs.
This Next STEP workshop is designed for parents and professionals who have attended the STEP Basic Introduction to Special Education workshop. This course will focus on fine tuning the IEP (Individualized Education Program). Participants are encouraged to bring their child's IEP to learn specific techniques to develop goals and objectives, the key to meeting their child's individual needs.
Registration for this course is required and space is limited. View our events calendar for a schedule of upcoming classes, or contact Tracy Bock at (865) 690-8961, ext. 2225 to register or for more information.
