Patients Given VIP Treatment at Knoxville Zoo
On Friday, May 2, hundreds of Children's Hospital patients and their families gathered for the sixth annual Dreamnight at the Zoo celebration. The Knoxville Zoo opened its doors to more than 500 families who cannot visit the zoo during regular hours due to concerns about their children's health. The patients enjoyed close encounters with four-legged friends, live entertainment and visits from local mascots, all at no cost. Zoo employees and volunteers give their time to help at the celebration.
Dreamnight at the Zoo began at the Rotterdam Zoo in 1996. It has spread to 246 zoos in 37 countries across the world.
