Why Does East Tennessee Children's Hospital Need Support?

The answer to this question is derived from the hospital's origin and from two very important aspects of its mission:

  1. OUR ORIGIN - Children's Hospital is the area's only hospital whose only concern is the care of your child. Our very existence is an expression of how much this community cares for its children. Children's Hospital is a not-for-profit, private, independent pediatric medical center.
  2. LOCAL AVAILABILITY OF PEDIATRIC CARE - We are here to provide general and specialty pediatric care in the local community so that families with sick and injured children are not required to travel hundreds of miles from home to obtain the care their child needs. It is important for us to be alert for new medical and surgical advances and take steps to bring them to our community. This means construction or renovation of facilities and purchase or upgrading of equipment needed by our staff and the pediatric subspecialists who practice here. Obviously, there are costs involved in being prepared.
  3. CARE THAT IS AVAILABLE TO ALL CHILDREN - Our Open-Door Policy still states, as it did on our first day in 1937, that no child will be denied care because of race, religion or their parents' ability to pay. There are also costs involved in keeping our hospital open to all.

How can you help?
